Q:
Why does my sustain pedal sustain when it's not pressed and not sustain when it is pressed?
A:
There are two types of sustain pedals. Normally Open and Normally Closed.
If you're using a pedal made by a company other than the manufacture of your keyboard, first check to see if there is a polarity switch on the foot switch.
If there is no switch, try turning the keyboard on with the foot switch already plugged in. Some keyboards are auto-sensing.
Some keyboards have a polarity setting usually located in a Global menu.
