Q:
I always get the following error when I want to expand the third Performane Set CD:
"An error has occurred while expanding the file "02 Viola ensemble - 10 part2.exe" (Format error). Is this a known error or is my file corrupt? I use StuffIt Standard 8.0.2.
A:
The Performance Set of the Pro Edition in EXS format has a known problem with many StuffIt versions - StuffIt X.0
versions have some flaws, especially the 7.0, and sometimes the 8.0.x versions. Again, please note that the problem is NOT disk related, it is related to Stuffit. StuffIt 6.0.1 and 6.5.1 seem to work fine. A copy which should be working for you can be found on our website. If that doesn't work, here is another option: If you have an old original OS 9 system (not classic emulation on OS X), you can extract the folder using StuffIt 6.5 for OS 9. If you still have problems with StuffIt, you could also open the file on a Windows PC. If you have access to a PC or if you can run Virtual PC on your Mac, please extract the Viola Part 2 folder and transfer the data to your Mac's hard disk. You can also use UnrarX to unstuff the .exe files. It is always a good idea to try transferring the archive to the computer's hard drive and try unStuffing it there if you can't get it to unStuff from DVD.
