The LED on my Rode NT4 doesn't stay on when I connect a battery or apply phantom power.
A:
The LED on the NT4 will illuminate only for a very brief instant when a battery is connected or phantom power is first applied. If you're not watching carefully, you'll miss it. During normal operation, the LED will remain off.
