Q:
How can I use the 01V96 as a Controller for a PC based Cubase SX System?
A:
The 01V96 has the ability to be used as a control surface for Cubase SX software. The 01V96 can control faders, mutes, solo, panning, EQ functions, Automation Read and Write functions, and aux. send levels 1-5 in Cubase SX. Transport control can be accomplished through either the MIDI Machine Control Screen or by assigning MIDI Machine Control commands to the User Defined keys.
01V96 USB Setup: 1 Connect the USB port of the 01V96 to a USB port on the PC. The PCs Device Wizard will detect a new USB device and will look for the USB driver. NOTE:The USB driver for the 01V96 is included on the 01V96 CD ROM or can be downloaded by clicking on 01V96 USB Driver for Windows link or on 01V96 USB Driver for Macintosh. 2 Press the [DIO/SETUP] button on the 01V96, repeatedly if necessary, until the MIDI/HOST screen is displayed. Under "Special Functions" set the DAW to be USB 1-2. This makes it so the 01V96 will use ports 1-2 of the USB bus to control Cubase SX. 3 Press the [DIO/SETUP] button on the 01V96, repeatedly if necessary, until the REMOTE screen is displayed. Set the Remote target to be Nuendo (Cubase SX). 4 Press the [REMOTE] button in the Mixing layer section. Cubase SX setup: 1 In Cubase, click on Devices, then Device Setup. 2 Click on the Add/Remove tab, select Yamaha DM2000, then click 'Add'. 3 Repeat step 2 so that there are two Yamaha DM2000s in the left column. 4 Click on the 'Setup' tab. Select Yamaha DM2000 and set Yamaha USB 0-1 to be the MIDI input and output ports and the click 'Apply' in the lower right- corner. 5 Select Yamaha DM2000 2 in the left column and set Yamaha USB 0-2 to be the MIDI input and output ports and the click Apply in the lower right-hand corner. For more information, click here to download "01V96/Cubase SX Setup & Control Manual" which goes over this in greater detail. NOTE: This will only make it so that the 01V96 will act as a controller for Cubase SX when in the Remote Mode. Audio connections will still have to be made between the 01V96 and the Cubase audio interface or soundcard. No audio is transmitted via the USB port of the 01V96.
