Q:
When I try to use the tap tempo feature in Live 3.x the playback of the clip starts hanging or jumping around, making it impossible for me to tap tempo to the clip. I was able to use this feature in Live 2.x. Is this a bug?
A:
This is a new behavior in Live 3. In Live 2.x an unwarped Arrangement clip would not be affected by tempo changes in this way. Once the clip had started, it would keep playing straight through. In Live 3, playback jumps within an unwarped Arrangement clip when the tempo changes. To understand our reasoning behind changing this behavior, please unfold the Arrangement track the clip resides in to view the clip's waveform. The new behavior makes sure that what you see is what you get, regardless of when the tempo change occurs. Please note that unwarped clips in Session View slots remain unaffected by tempo changes, allowing you to tap tempo to the unwarped clip. Please use the Session View when tapping tempo to unwarped clips.
