Some NVIDIA graphic cards/drivers can cause a conflict. Please be sure that you have the latest drivers for your NVIDIA card. If the latest drivers for your NVIDIA card do not solve the problem please try the following workaround:

Go to "Control Panel" in Windows XP and select the System icon. Under System Properties, click on "Advanced." Under "Performance," click on "Settings." On the tab labeled Visual Effects, uncheck the option "show shadows under menu." Click "Apply," and click "Ok" to exit.
