Q:
My stereo output is clipping, but I don’t show clip on Input 1-2 or Input 3-4.
A:
When you are using the Dual Tone capability of GearBox, the master stereo output is summing all 4 input channels. If you are recording at reasonable levels this can force the output into clipping. On the UX1, the clipping indicator for the master out is in software (a small virtual LED near the output volume knob), so you may not see it if the GearBox app is not at the front. On the UX2, you can set the hardware meters to display output, so you can easily see if the output is clipped or not. Assuming that you are feeding your tracks from the inputs, this won’t affect your recording, but you probably don’t want to hear the clipping, so we recommend reducing the monitor levels for 1-2 and 3-4 or changing their panning (possibly both, depending on just how hot you’re recording).
