Q:
"Spotlight" and "Dashboard" remapping required for some Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts.
A:
Two key commands that Pro Tools uses to initiate recording are assigned to "Spotlight" and "Dashboard," two new features introduced in Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger"). In order to use these key commands for Pro Tools, the key commands for "Spotlight" and "Dashboard" must be remapped.
To remap Command+Space: 1) Open System Preferences. 2) Select Spotlight. 3) Turn off the Command+Space mapping by unchecking the checkbox for the Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut, or by clicking in the box and choosing a shortcut or your choice (be sure you do not choose a shortcut that Pro Tools is using). To remap F12: 1) Open System Preferences. 2) Select Dashboard & Expose. 3) Select F12 from the menu next to the Dashboard item. 4) Choose another F key or select any combination of modifier keys and an F Key.
