Make sure that it is a type 1 MIDI file. Other MIDI file types will cause this to occur in the Alesis keyboards.

You will need to change the file type using the program which it was created in. For example, if you created the MIDI file in Finale, go to the export MIDI file options and change the file type here. Then try the importing process again.
