Q:
I keep getting error messages concerning graphics card drivers (Windows) in Sibelius.
A:
Some graphics cards, particularly those made by SiS, have problems displaying Sibelius's textures, with the result that Sibelius appears to crash sporadically and unpredictably. This is due to problems in the graphics card drivers. To remedy the situation:
* In Sibelius 4: choose File > Preferences and then select Textures from the list on the left hand side of the dialog. Then switch off both the Paper and Desk textures for both Full Score and Parts. You may also want to click on Display on the left hand side and change the Smoothing settings to Faster. You may also want to set the Tool Windows Translucency to zero. * In Sibelius 3: choose View > Textures and switch off both the Paper and Desk textures. Also choose View > Smoothing... and set the slider to Faster instead of Smoother. * In Sibelius 2: choose View > Textures and switch off both the Paper and Desk textures. * In Sibelius 1.4: choose File > Preferences and Paper Textures.
