Q:
What is the Difference in Sonik Synth 2 and SampleTank 2XL?

A:
Sonik Synth 2 is a synthesizer workstation plug-in designed to be used like a hardware workstation keyboard or sound module, but with a wave rom that is over 100 times the size, while SampleTank 2 XL is open to import additional sample material from any SampleTank library as well as WAV, AIFF, SDII samples, AKAI, S1000-3000, SampleCell, instruments, and more.

Sonik Synth 2 is a closed sound module meant for its sounds to be single and combi patches based on its massive included 8 gigabyte soundset. The included soundset of Sonik Synth 2 and SampleTank 2 XL are completely different and while both offer diverse compositional power right of the box, the two products are designed to compliment each other for building the ultimate SampleTank sound system.

Owners of SampleTank 2 L and XL can read Sonik Synth 2 sounds and combine them with the sounds of their other SampleTank 2 sound libraries and any other imported samples. Sonik Synth 2 owners do not need to own a separate SampleTank product to use it as a plug-in, but can take advantage of the additional features like sample import as well as additional sounds if they were to cross-grade to SampleTank 2 XL.
