Q:
Pro Tools hangs on launch on Windows XP with Mac Opener.
A:
If you install Mac Opener and try to format a drive, the format will fail. If Pro Tools is installed when you do this, and then you uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools, Pro Tools will take an extremely long time to launch (it is seemingly hung on "Creating DAE Objects"). If you uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools again, Pro Tools will hang on launch on either "Initializing Databases" or "Creating DAE." It remains hung, and you cannot quit (not even force quit). If you try to shutdown the machine, Windows will hang while logging off. You must hard-cycle the power.
