Q:
How can i test my Presonus V-Fire's R-Bus input's and outputs?
A:
The V-Fire can be tested without the need to set up any Roland device by connecting R-BUS1 to R-BUS2 with the supplied R-BUS cable and recording between two tracks in your recording software.
Follow the steps below to test your V-Fire's inputs and outputs: Using the supplied R-BUS cable, connect R-BUS1 to R-BUS2 on your V-Fire. Open your recording software and start a new session. Create 9 stereo audio tracks. Import a stereo audio file (like an mp3 or cda) to one of those tracks. Set the imported track's input to No Input or Not Connected (this setting may not be possible in your software; consult your manual for details). Set the other 8 tracks' outputs to No Output or Not Connected (this setting may not be possible in your software; consult your manual for details). Set each of the 8 non-imported audio tracks' inputs to a different stereo input pair (i.e. R-BUS1 1&2, R-BUS1 3&4, etc.). Enable software monitoring in your DAW software (usually by clicking the 'monitor' or 'echo' button) for the 8 non-imported audio tracks. Change the output of the imported audio track to RBUS1 1&2 and play your session. You should see the audio playing out of RBUS1 1&2 OUT show up in the audio track set to input on RBUS2 1&2 IN. Repeat steps 9 & 10 for the remaining 7 stereo output pairs. In summary, the R-BUS1 outputs will be routed to the R-BUS2 inputs and vice versa in the following manner: R-BUS1 OUT 1&2 --> R-BUS2 IN 1&2 R-BUS1 OUT 3&4 --> R-BUS2 IN 3&4 R-BUS1 OUT 5&6 --> R-BUS2 IN 5&6 R-BUS1 OUT 7&8 --> R-BUS2 IN 7&8 R-BUS2 OUT 1&2 --> R-BUS1 IN 1&2 R-BUS2 OUT 3&4 --> R-BUS1 IN 3&4 R-BUS2 OUT 5&6 --> R-BUS1 IN 5&6 R-BUS2 OUT 7&8 --> R-BUS1 IN 7&8 Using this process, you will be able to test every input and output of your V-Fire without the necessity for any further gear configuring.
