Q:
What is OMF?
A:
Open Media Framework (OMF) or Open Media Framework Interchange (OMFI) is a platform-independent file format intended for transfer of digital media between different software applications. It is used by programs like Avid, Final Cut Pro, SONAR, Nuendo, Cubase, Logic Pro and Pro Tools. Essentially, a session or project saved as an OMF in one program can be opened in another with all information regarding file use, track placement, plugin settings, timecode, etc., included.
Avid systems generally store video in OMFI format, and audio in AIFF. from en.wikipedia.org
