Does the input switch on the top of the TASCAM HD-P2 switch between mic and line input, or between the XLR and RCA inputs?
A:
The INPUT switch position determines what physical connector is being used (XLR or RCA), not what type of audio signal is being fed to the machine.
With the switch in the LINE position, the unit is expecting signal from the RCA connector. With the switch in the MIC position, the unit is expecting input signal from the XLR connector. The XLR connector (in MIC position) can be fed either mic or line level audio signals.
