Q:
I can't complete the installation because of a possible corrupt or damaged installer disk. How can I verify that the disk is actually the problem?
A:
You can check for a damaged disc by creating a .dmg using Utilities -> Disk Repair. Insert the questionable disk into your disk drive, select the disc from the list on the left, then File -> New -> Disk Image from (select device) -> Save as: (name) & Where: (choose location)
If the disk is damaged, then this process will only get as far as the original install attempt got before a disk failure error msg results. If this process completes, and you can create a .dmg of the disk, then the disk itself is OK, but use this .dmg (rather than the disk itself) to run the installation.
