Q:
My Firewire interface is stuttering and giving me problems with my Creation Station.
A:
Firewire interfaces should ALWAYS be connected to the installed Firewire card, if there is one on your Creation Station, and not to the firewire port(s) built into the motherboard. The card includes a rock-solid Texas Instruments chipset that is compatible with every firewire interface on the market. The card is located on the back of the Creation Station, on the opposite side of the video card than the USB port panel.
If you are conncted to the right port, then this procedure may help: Power off or disconnect anything connected to the firewire bus before proceeding. 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. 2. Locate the entry for "IEEE 1394...." and Click on the "+" next to this entry. 3. Right-click on whatever device(s) show up underneath the IEEE entry and choose "Uninstall." Then, reboot your PC. A balloon in the Notification Area should appear letting you know it found new hardware and is installing it. If asked to connect to Windows Update, choose "No, not this time" and press "Next." Then, choose "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and press "Next" and then "Finish." Once the PC is rebooted and all Found New Hardware Wizards are completed, your Firewire drivers will be refreshed. If you still experience problems, you may want to disable the Windows Firewall for your 1394 connection. To do this: Go to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall. Click on the "Advanced" tab and uncheck "1394 Connection" (there may be more than one; uncheck them all) and press "OK." Then repeat the above instructions begining with #1.
