For at least one user, the installed file had incorrect ownership properties. Here is how to check this and fix it.

In the Finder, select the Trilian component and choose Get Info from the File menu.
In the ownership section of the info window, click the padlock icon to unlock, authenticate, and then select your user name in the User pulldown menu.
