Q:
When I try to bounce an MP3 file in ProTools, I get the message, “The MP3 option cannot be enabled because:
Module initialization failed for MP3.bundle.
The MP3 demo period may have expired.”
A:
That error appears if the MP3 option is not installed or the demo has expired:
To resolve the MP3 Export Option error message: Delete the MP3 folder from your hard drive (if there is one there) On Mac, this is located in: Macintosh HD/Applications/Digidesign /Pro Tools/Codecs. In Windows, this is located in: C:\Program Files\Common Files \Digidesign\DAE\Codecs. For new versions of ProTools, it is best to download the latest version from digidesign.com For example, MP3 option for ProTools 8 can be found here: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=54&itemid=36634&mkt=ALL&downloadid=56630&eid=0&printview=N&
