Q:
Audiomedia has insufficient RAM to run DECK, call Digidesign for a free retrofit" when launching DECK on AM card.
A:
*This applies to the original Audiomedia cards *, not AMIII
Some Audiomedia cards have 2k RAM. DECK requires 8k RAM. B0001-B00400 were shipped with 8k RAM. C00401-C00500 were shipped with 2k RAM. C00507, 526, 541, 548, 556, 561, 565, 566, 578, 583, 599, 604, 612, 619, 625 were shipped with 2k RAM. Look at the component side of the card, with the NuBus connector at the bottom. In the upper left there are 6 chips in a row. They should all be the same amount of pins - filling the sockets (on the 2k cards, the 3 chips on the right are shorter). Jumpers JP1 and JP2 should be on the middle and bottom pins, Jumper JP4 should be on the left and center pins.
