Q:
A tip on understanding your gear.
A:
Ever heard the phrase, "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part?" This is your last chance to order those cables and connectors to get it hooked up. Also, use the time off to read the manual. It's amazing to watch this phenomenon in our technical support department. The Monday after any holiday or long weekend the phones are invariably slammed with people asking questions and needing help. Overall the manuals that come with music equipment are better today than they ever have been. In spite of the fact that the equipment is more complex than ever, it is easier to make great music. Read the manual. You will be surprised what you will learn if you actually read it. I don't mean to skim over the index and thumb through the pages. I mean "read" it. Even if you do not retain everything it will ground you on where to look for things you need help with. Try it sometime. It really makes a big difference. You'll enjoy your equipment more and get more out of it.
