On Macs with System 7.1 or below PTIII and/or S8 will not recognize any drive partition larger than 2gig. The init will say there is no drive. Workaround is to connect the drive to the Mac SCSI buss and reformat with partitions less than 2gig or upgrade to system 7.5 or above.
