Q:
General Info - CakeTalk#1
A:
1. How many tracks Cakewalk Pro Audio will record. (real life examples)
486-SX 33 MHz w/8 MB ram: 2 to 4 tracks 486-DX 66MHz w/16 MB ram: 4 to 6 tracks Pentium 60 w/16 MB ram, 2.5 meg/sec HD: 9 tracks (Dr. Solos setup here at Cakewalk) A faster processor and/or hard drive will allow Cakewalk Pro Audio to record and play back more tracks. Different sound cards do not influence the number of possible tracks. These tests were done under Windows 3.01 on stock computers. Windows 95 will require more ram. 2. Simultaneous Recording (Full-Duplex) Full-duplex means the ability to play and record simultaneously. Some inexpensive sound cards do not allow for simultaneous record and play back. The full-duplex sound cards we have successfully tested with Cakewalk are: the CardD Plus, Audio Trix Pro, The Turtle Beach Multisound, Classic, Tahiti, and Montery cards. Well continue to test new full-duplex cards as they become available and keep you posted. Refer to attached sound card chart for details. 3. 4.01 Maintenance Upgrade The Cakewalk Pro Audio 4.01 maintenance upgrade will include CAL (Cakewalk Application Language), audio to SMPTE sync and have built-in support for Session8 routing, mixing and equalization.
