Q:
What does the K2VX update do
A:
"What does the K2vx Upgrade do? From time to time I get hit from customers asking me to pit the 200025000 against the K2vx Upgrade. I do have the print out of the Converter, however, I am not up to speed on the K2vx Upgrade. thanx"
There are three different Kurzweil Factory Presets: K2000's, K2vx's and K2500's. The K2vx is a cross-breed as it has the 1-199 Programs of a K2500 but the ROM Samples of a K2000. The K2000 > K2500 Converter Disks are somewhere in-between a K2vx and a K2500. It gives a K2000 the 1-199 Programs of a K2500 as well as some new Drum Samples that closely resemble the K2500. The best answer is that getting the K2vx chip is cool because you get all the Programs, Setups, Effects, etc. permanently (even after a Hard Reset or Power Off). You also get an additional 200 Programs in the 600's and 700's Bank as well as the 800's and 900's. The downside is that the customer *MUST* have v3.18 and P-RAM and Orch ROM and Cont ROM in order for the vx chips to work. The K2000 > K2500 Converter Disks *MUST* have P-RAM, but any v3 Engine will work and they don't need Orch ROM or Cont ROM. The downside is that the Converter eats a lot of P-RAM and the Samples go away on Power Off. If the customer already has v3.18, P-RAM, Orch ROM and Cont ROM (or at least most of these and is willing to buy the rest) it's better to go with the K2vx Upgrade. I know this stuff gets weird so feel free to ask questions if you need more help. _FIZBIN_ |
