Follow these steps to trim down extensions.

1. Launch Extension Manager
2. Next to SELECTED SET, choose OS"?"Base
3. Then click DUPLICATE SET at the bottom right of the window. Rename the set as you like.
4. Turn ON the following items:
- DigiSystem INIT
- *Digidesign Output Drivers
- *Digidesign DSP Manager
- Open Music System
- OMS Preffered Device (control panel)
- *FreeMIDI System Extension
- *FreeMIDI PowerPlug
- *FreeMIDI SoftSynth Extension
- *MOTU USB Driver
* (you may or may not have this)

5. Turn OFF the following items (OPTIONAL)
- printer extensions (eg: laserwriter, stylewriter, color SW..., print monitor... etc.)
- ethernet, modem, internet and speech.

6. Restart your computer

* Make sure "SOMObjects for Mac OS" , "Open Transport (Open TPT)" and "File Sharing" items are ON!
