1. You must use either:
- a category 5 "crossover" cable
- an ethernet hub with a standard category 5 cable

2. You must set the IP address and Subnet mask on the Mac as follows:

- IP address: Check MX2424 menu #950 (Press setup, #9, then "up" or "down") for it's IP address.
In the Mac's TCP/IP control panel, set the IP address to one digit higher than the MX2424's (this is flexible as long as it's "unique")

- Subnet mask: Check MX2424 menu #951 (Press setup, #9, then "up" or "down") for it's "net mask".
In the Mac's TCP/IP control panel, set the Subnet mask to match the MX2424's net mask.
