Q:
tips for using Mezzo Archiver Mezzo Archiver - FAQ
A:
Q ? 1.When i want to throw some data files or a session in the trash ,it doesent clear up the space on the cartridge. How do i do this? and when a cartridge is retired can i throw stuff in the trash and unretire the cartridge?
A: There is no way to selectively trash files from tape to free up space. This is due to the nature of the tape medium itself. If you want to write over the entire tape altogether, when you are ready to create a new overview simply hit Command-N (WITHOUT the tape inserted) and rename it. This will initialize the tape and allow you to start from scratch. Q: 2.When i have saved a session to mezzo ,and then changed the session how do i load the old session without mezzo automatically saving the update? A: Mezzo will automatically back up any changes made to the session if the updates are titled the same name as the original. The only way to prevent this is from happening is to move the session folder or change the session name so Mezzo can't locate it. Then, change it back when you do want to archive it. Or, if you need to do a restore, initiate the restore tapelessly and when it is through, immediately eject the tape to prevent archiving.
