A. Extensions Manager
1. Launch Extensions Manager from the Control Panels pop-up in the Apple menu. 2. At the top of the window, choose "Mac OS"" BASE set" in the pop-up next to "Selected Set". 3. Click the "Duplicate Set" button near the bottom right of the window. 4. Name the set as you like (eg "Production", "recording", etc...) 5. If you've already installed your music/recording applications, scroll through the list and turn those extensions ON by placing an "X" in the box next each extension. Some of these extensions -might- be listed (depending on your system): - Digidesign... - Unity.... - Digisystem INIT - Retro.... - FreeMIDI... - USB Floppy enabler - Open Music System -USB Midisport... - MOTU USB... 6. If you haven't installed music applications yet, don't worry, their extensions will be enabled automatically when you install them. 7. Restart your computer (this makes that extensions set active) B. Control Panel settings : these can be accessed from the Apple menu, in the Control Panels pop-up. 1. Appearance : FONTS - turn "Font Smoothing" OFF 2. MEMORY : - Virtual Memory = OFF, - Disk Cache : set to "custom" for Digital Performer = 2084, for ProTools = 512 3. Energy Saver : set sleep mode to NEVER 4. SOUND : inputs and outputs should always be BUILT IN |
