Q:
Compatibility issues - setup & fixes Roland UA30 USB Audio interface : MOTU Digital Performer
A:
1. "Cannot Synchronize" errors. Keep clicking OK, and you can usual continue. While Digital Performer is open, you cannot change the state of the Sound Manager driver (ex. to Built-in, back to USB audio). If you do so, you have to relaunch Digital Performer.
2. One user reported a slight delay when record-arming Digital Performer tracks. This does not appear to be UA-30 specific. Depending on the size and fragmentation of the source record drive, record-arming can be instant to slightly delayed. 3. Disconnecting or turning off a digital input source (ex. SPDIF) cause DP to throw up a bogus error message, "Play buffers full. Too many tracks? Too many effects? Digital Audio Disabled". 4. Similar to above error, if you change the sample rate or turn of the digital source, you may encounter the same "Play buffers full..." error. 5. Switching between Digital or Analog on the UA-30 will freeze DP. In general, it's a good idea to make any hardware switch settings before launching Digital Performer. 6. Jim reported "Play buffers full" errors after 17 seconds of record. We could consistently repro that here (although we've seen it on occasion, and it would not happen if our audio system was reset to Built-in). There are problably buffer adjustments and hard disk variables that contribute to these.
