Q:
intructions for configuring Digital Performer and Oasys PCI card Configuring Audio in Digital Performer with the OASYS PCI card
A:
Configuring Audio Select OASYS PCI as the audio device
1. In Digital Performer, make sure that the MOTU Audio System is selected as the Audio System (in the Basics menu). 2. In the Basics menu, select MOTU Audio System options->Configure Hardware Driver. The Configure Hardware Driver dialog will appear. 3. Select ASIO from the menu at the top of the window. The ASIO driver options will appear in the lower part of the window. 4. Select "Korg OASYS PCI" from the "ASIO Driver" menu. If OASYS PCI does not appear in the menu, see the FAQ entry Cannot select OASYS PCI in audio/MIDI program 5. Set the Sample Rate and Clock Source parameters as desired. 6. Press the Configure Driver button. The OASYS PCI ASIO Control Panel will appear. This window allows you to set up the zero-latency monitor mixer, the analog input and output trim levels, and the ASIO record source (you can record from either the physical inputs, or the outputs of the OASYS PCI mixer). You can change these settings at any time. 7. Press OK to close the ASIO Control Panel. The Configure Hardware Driver window will still be open. 8. Press OK to close the Configure Hardware Driver window. Plug-In Previews in Digital Performer Digital Performer supports two plug-in formats: Premiere and MAS. MAS effects can be used in the Mixer window, in real time. They can also be applied directly to an audio file or soundbite, in non-real time, using the Audio->Plug-Ins submenu. When MAS effects are applied in non-real time, their audio previews are routed through the MOTU Audio System, and are heard through the analog outputs of the OASYS PCI. Premiere plug-ins can only be applied in non-real time, using the Audio->Plug-Ins submenu. Their audio previews are routed through the Sound Manager, so they will play through the audio hardware selected in the Sound control panel (such as the Mac's built-in audio). This can be a little confusing, since both MAS and Premiere plug-ins appear in the same menu, and yet they play back through different audio systems. You can tell the two types of plug-ins apart by their position in the menu. Premiere plug-ins are at the top, grouped with MOTU's own Reverse and Invert Phase plug-ins. After the Premiere plug-ins, there is a separator line, below which the MAS plug-ins appear - probably startingwith MOTU's Auto-Pan plug-in.
