Q:
How do I play more than one sample at a time?
A:
In order to play samples multitimbrally, you must at first have an idea of the S2000's program architecture. Samples are held in velocity zones within keygroups. A program is a set of keygroups. A multi setup consists of
a number of programs assigned by program number into multi slots. To Create a Program: 1. Select Single Edit. 2. Hit F2 - NAME. 3. Use Select knob to move around the name and Data wheel to change letters. 4. Hit F2 - COPY - This will copy your chosen name into a program. 5. Press Group down \/ four times. You should have reached the NO OF KGRPS page. 6. Hit F2 - COPY to copy Keygroups into your program. 7. Press Page Down \/ once to bring you to the SPAN page. 8. Now you must allocate a range of keys for each Keygroup. Hit F1 to select the keygroup, F2 to select the lowest or highest note of that keyspan, and Data wheel to select values. 9. Press Page Down \/ three times. This will bring you to the velocity Zone pages. Using the Data wheel, scroll through your samples until you have assigned the correct sample to that keygroup. Incidentally, all the above (except naming programs) can be done in Multi Edit. To Assign the Program to a Multi Slot: 1. Press Multi. 2. Press Page Down to assign the program to one of 16 multi slots. 3. Press Page Down again to assign a MIDI channel to a multi slot.

I have an S2000 and I use the Multi mode a lot. In building up a multi, I may assign sounds to parts that I might not use later after I have added sounds on the other modules I have. However, I can't find a way to turn unwanted parts off. I have turned the level down but polyphony still seems to be effected. How can I overcome this? What sounds can the new S-Series samplers read?
