Q. How do I Select a Program?
1. Press the PROGRAM button. 2. Selecting a Program can be accomplish in five ways: 1) Type the number of the Program on the keypad and press ENTER . 2) Spin the Alpha Wheel until you get to the desired Program. 3) Use the - or + buttons to increase or decrease the Program number by one. 4) Pressing the Up or Down Cursor buttons. 5) Choose a Program from a Quick Access Bank. Q. How do I Select a Setup? 1. Press the SETUP button. 2. Use the same 3 methods to select Setups from step #2 in Selecting Programs. *IMPORTANT TO RACK OWNERS - You must set the Local Keyboard Channel on your Kurzweil to match the Transmit Channel of your controller in order for SETUPS to correctly respond. 1) Press the MIDI button. 2) Using the cursor keys move the cursor to LocalKbdCh: None 3) Using the Alpha Wheel change the value of LocalKbdCh: None to LocalKbdCh: x (x being equal to the Transmit MIDI Channel of your controller.) Q. How do I Select Quick Access banks? 1. Press the QUICK ACCESS button. 2. Press the CHAN / BANK button to scroll the different banks. 3. To select a program in a Quick Access bank use the Alpha Wheel, “-” or “+”, the L/R Cursors, or the number keypad. Q. How do I Load a File from Floppy Disk? 1. Insert a floppy disk. 2. Press the DISK button 3. Set “Current Disk” to floppy using the Alpha Wheel. 4. Press the soft button under LOAD. If you do not see LOAD press the “< MORE” or “MORE >” soft button until it appears. 5. Scroll through the list of files by using the Alpha Wheel. When you find one you would like to load select it by pushing the soft button under Select. (You can make multiple selections if you wish.) When you are done making your selections press the soft button under OK. 6. The display will read Load this file as: 200.....299. If you want to load this file in the 200s Bank press the SOFT button under OK. If the display has an asterisk after the bank number this means that there is an object already loaded in that bank. You may choose to load to a different bank or overwrite the current bank (see section 13-18 in K2500 performance guide or section 4-15 in the K2000 Musicians guide supplement). If you do not want to load the file in the 200s bank use the Alpha Wheel to select a different bank. 7. Once you have made your selection Press the soft button under Fill. The loading process will then start. Q. How do I Format a Floppy Disk? 1. Insert a floppy disk. (Make sure disk protect on the floppy is off.) 2. Press the DISK button. 3. Set “Current Disk” to floppy using the Alpha Wheel. 4. Press the “< MORE” or “MORE >” soft button until you see the Format soft button appear. 5. Press the Format soft button. “Format this floppy disk?” will appear on the display. 6. Press the Yes soft button. “Format this floppy as:” will appear on the display. You will also see a 720k soft button, 1.4M soft button and a Cancel soft button. Press the 720k soft button if you are using a double-density disk or the 1.4M soft button if you are using a high-density disk. 7. This will erase everything. “Continue?” will appear on the display. Press the Yes or No soft button. It will then ask you if you’re sure. Press the Yes or No soft button and it will begin formatting. When it is done it will give you the choice to format another floppy. Q. How do I Save a File to Floppy Disk? 1. Insert a floppy disk. (Make sure disk protect on the floppy is off.) 2. Press the DISK button. 3. Set “Current Disk” to floppy using the Alpha Wheel. 4. Press the soft button under SAVE. If you do not see SAVE press the “< MORE” or “MORE >” soft button until it appears. 5. The display will read “Save selection: *200....299”. If you want to save the objects that are in this bank press the soft button under OK. If you want to save the objects from a different bank use the Alpha Wheel to select a different bank, then press the soft button under OK. 6. The display will read “Save as:” you may choose to name the file or leave it as it is. If you want to name the file use the keypad. 7. Press the soft button under OK. The display will read “Use current directory for YOUR FILE NAME. KRZ? ( Path = / )”. This is asking you which directory you want to use for this file. Press the soft button under OK and the saving process will begin. If you want to save to a different directory or create a new directory see section 13-11 in the K2500 Performance Guide or section 4-8 in the K2000 Musicians Guide supplement. Q. How do I Create a Split or Layer? 1. Press the SETUP button. 2. Type the number 100 on the Keypad and press ENTER. You should see Setup 100 Basic Setup in the display. 3. Press the EDIT button. You should see <> Zone:1 in the upper right hand of the display. Also the cursor should be on program 199 Default Program. 4. Use the Alpha Wheel to scroll to the program you want to use for this zone. 5. When you find the program you like you must set the Key Range you want that Zone to be in . Use the CURSOR buttons to move the cursor to LoKey. Hold down the ENTER button and press the lowest key you want the Zone to be played at. Move the cursor to HiKey, hold down the ENTER button and press the highest key you want the Zone to be played at . 6. Press the top CHAN / BANK button to select the next Zone. You should see <> Zone:2 in the upper right hand corner of the display. 7. Repeat steps #4, #5, and #6 for the next Zones. 8. You can set the volume of each Zone by moving the cursor to the bottom right hand side of the display ( V: 127 ) and using the Alpha Wheel to enter a new value. 9. You can also select an effect for your setup.Use the CURSOR buttons to move the cursor to effect , use the Alpha Wheel or the “-” or “+” buttons to select the effect. 10. Set the Wet / Dry Mix of your effects by moving the cursor to FXMIX and using the Alpha Wheel to select the desired value. 11. Press the EXIT button. The display will read “Save Basic Setup before exiting? 12. Press the SOFT button under Rename. Use the keypad to type in a name (to make capital letters press the +/- on the keypad ). Press the OK SOFT button. 13. Press the Save SOFT button. The display should read “Save Setup as: ID#200?” (if ID#200 is already used by a Setup the next available ID# will be called up). Press the Save SOFT button. Your new Setup will be saved to the selected ID#. Q. How do I Change the Effect in a Program? 1. Press the PROGRAM button. 2. Find the Program you would like to change the Effect on by scrolling the Alpha Wheel. 3. Press the EDIT button. 4. Press the “< MORE” or “MORE >” soft buttons until you see EFFECT above the third soft button. 5. Press the soft button under EFFECT. You will now be in the Effect page. 6. Use the Alpha Wheel to scroll the different preset effects. 7. Use the CURSOR down button to move to Wet / Dry Mix adjustment. This is how you vary how much of the selected Effect will be applied to the Program. 8. Once you’re done with selecting your Effect and setting your Wet / Dry Mix, press the EXIT button. 9. It will then ask you if you would like to save before exiting. Press the YES or NO soft button. 10. If you have edited a preset program it will ask you if you would like to save it to the next available ID#. If you edited a program that is not a preset it will ask you if you would like to replace the original. If you don't want to replace the original you can select a new ID# by scrolling the Alpha Wheel. Once you have selected the ID# you would like to save your program to, you can press the soft button under Rename to rename your program or just press the soft button under save to save your program. Q. How do I Play back a Multitimbral Song? 1. Load a Song using the procedure for loading a file from floppy disk. 2. Press the SONG button to enter Song mode. 3. Scroll the Alpha Wheel to find the Song you would like to play back. 4. Press the soft button under play. Q. How do I Record a Multitimbral Song? 1. Press the SONG button. 2. Use the Alpha Wheel to select #1 New Song, if no Song is in memory it will already be on New Song. 3. Use the CURSOR to move to RecTrk: This sets the track you want to record on. Use the Alpha Wheel or the “-” or ”+” buttons to select different tracks. 4. Use the CURSOR to move to Program: This is were you select a program to record on that track. Use the Alpha Wheel or the “-” or ”+” buttons to select different programs. 5. Press the soft button under Record. REC READY will be flashing in the upper right hand corner of the display. Press the soft button under Play and you will hear a one measure Count Off. Begin recording your take. 6. When you are done recording your take press the soft button under Stop. 7. It will then ask you if you would like to save this Song. Press the Yes or NO soft button. If Yes, you will then be able to select a Song ID# to save your Song as well as a name for your Song. 8. Move the CURSOR to Rec Trk: again and select a new track to record on. Repeat steps 3 through 7. 9. If you would like to change the tempo of the Song move the CURSOR to Tempo: in the upper right hand side of the display. Press the Record soft button, REC READY will flash in the top corner of the display. Use the keypad to enter in your tempo then press the ENTER button. Now press the Stop soft button. Your new tempo is now recorded. 10. To change a program on a track that has data already recorded on it, you must move the CURSOR to RecTrk and select the track you would like to change. Then move the CURSOR to Program: use the Alpha Wheel to scroll to the program you would like. Now press the Record soft button, Rec ready will flash in the top corner of the display. Use the keypad to enter the program number then press ENTER. If you change the program without pressing the Record soft button first, then the next time you press the Stop soft button the original program will appear. If no data has been recorded on a track then you can simply move the CURSOR to program: and make your selection without Pressing the record soft button. 11. To change the volume of a track first move the CURSOR to RecTrk and select the track you would like to change. Then move the CURSOR to VOL: and press the Record soft button. Rec Ready will flash in the top corner of the display. Use the keypad to enter the Volume 0-127 then press ENTER. 12.To change the Pan position of a track first move the CURSOR to RecTrk and select the track you would like to change. Then move the CURSOR to Pan: press the Record soft button. Rec Ready will flash in the top corner of the display, Use the keypad to enter the Pan number 0-127 then press ENTER. 0 is full left, 127 is full right, 64 is the center position. 13. To erase data recorded on a track first move the CURSOR to RecTrk and select the track you would like to erase. Press the Erase soft button. “Erase track ?” will appear on the display. Press the Yes or No soft button. |
