Trashing Digital Performer and dependent items to perform a fresh install - including creating a custom extensions set.
A:
1. Here's a list of items to remove (throw in your trash) before reinstalling:
- Audiodesk Folder (on Mac HD) - Digital Performer Folder (on Mac HD) - FreeMIDI Applications (on Mac HD) - FreeMIDI Folder (inside System Folder) - FreeMIDI PowerPlug (inside System Folder >>> Extensions) - FreeMIDI System Extension (inside System Folder >>> Extensions) - FreeMIDI Softsynth Extension (inside System Folder >>> Extensions) - MOTU Firewire driver or 828 driver (inside System Folder >>> Extensions) - FreeMIDI Preferences (inside System Folder >>> Preferences) - FreeMIDI Setup Prefs (inside System Folder >>> Preferences) - Digital Performer Prefs (inside System Folder >>> Preferences) - MOTU Audio System Prefs (inside System Folder >>> Preferences) - MOTU 828 Prefs or MOTU 324 Prefs(inside System Folder >>> Preferences) - MOTU Folder (inside System Folder >>> Extensions) 2. After trashing these items, restart the computer, then empty the trash. 3. Trim your Extensions using Extensions Manager a. Launch Extension Manager (apple menu - control panels) b. Next to SELECTED SET, choose OS"?"Base c. Then click DUPLICATE SET at the bottom right of the window. Rename the set as you like. d. Turn OFF the following items (OPTIONAL) - printer extensions (eg: laserwriter, stylewriter, color SW..., print monitor... etc.) - ethernet, modem, internet and speech. e. Restart your computer 3. Use the MOTU Firewire CD or Core installer to perform and easy install of Audiodesk and the 828, 2408, etc drivers. Restart the computer when it asks you to do so. 4. Use the Digital Performer CD to perform and easy install of Digital Performer 3. Restart the computer when it asks you to do so. 5. Install any applicable updates for Digital Performer, MAS, FreeMIDI, and hardware drivers. 6. Use FreeMIDI Setup (Mac HD >>> FreeMIDI applications) to create a freemidi configuration. Save freemidi, and leave it open as you launch Digital Performer for the first time.
