Q:
How can a single channel unit be stereo?
A:
The Blue Max is similar to a device like a stereo cassette deck which can record or reproduce a stereo signal but can’t be used to record to discrete sounds at different times. An example of a Blue Max being used to process two different signals at the same time would be to send a sub mix of a snare drum and a kick drum to a Blue Max adjusted to the percussion pre-set. The two instruments would be processed independently unless they were both struck at the same time, in which case the louder of the two instruments would likely be acted upon with greatest effect.
