Q:
Using Copy-Protected CDs in an AW4416
A:
Commercially produced CDs often have the copyright flag set to ON, to prevent copying the disc digitally. The AW4416 offers the professional capability of setting the unit to ignore the flagged bit, in order to work with copy-protected CDs. Use of this feature comes with the appropriate warning to users concerning the illegal use of copyrighted material.
Configuring the AW4416: 1) Press the [UTILITY] button in the 'UNIT' section. 2) Press the [F3] (Prefer.2) button under the center screen. 3) Select 'DISABLE' in the 'CD/DAT DIGITAL REC' section of the display screen using the 'CURSOR' buttons. 4) Press the yellow [ENTER] button. The first page of the copyright 'WARNING' statement will appear. 5) Read the 'WARNING' statement in the screen, then select 'NEXT' using the 'CURSOR' buttons. 6) Press the [ENTER] button. The second page of the copyright 'WARNING' statement will appear. 7) If the 'WARNING' statement is understood and agreed to, select 'YES' using the, or 'CURSOR' buttons. NOTE: If 'NO' is selected, it will not be possible to work with copyrighted CDs as this will indicate that the copyright warning is not understood or agreed to by the user. 8) Press the [ENTER] button. The 'DISABLE' button in the 'CD/DAT DIGITAL REC' section of the screen will then read 'ENABLE'. Reference: Reference Guide, p.36
