On the AW4416:

1. Press the MIDI button
2. Press the F2 button to get to MIDI Sync Options
3. Sync Out-MTC
4. MTC Sync-MASTER
5. MMC-MASTER
6. SYNC AVE.-OFF
7. MMC Device-1
There are three MIDI connectors on the AW4416...MIDI IN..MIDI OUT/THRU and MTC OUT..connect a MIDI cable to the MTC OUT and put that to the MIDI IN on the MIDI interface for your computer. Take the MIDI IN on the AW4416 and connect that to the MIDI OUT on your MIDI interface for the computer.

In Digital Performer.

1. Make sure FreeMIDI has a device that specifies it's an MMC device, and Send MTC.
To make it easy, go to "Create Device" the FreeMIDI's Configuration menu, and choose manufacturer=roland, model=VS880. Then simply change the name to AW4416.
2. In Digital Performer, go the the BASICS menu and choose RECEIVE SYNC :
- Sync to Port = (choose your midi interface)
- Type of Sync = MTC, DTL or DTLe
- be sure to make sure the frame rate is the same as on the AW4416
3. Click OK to close RECEIVE SYNC
4. Return to the BASICS menu, and choose SLAVE TO EXTERNAL
5. Press PLAY in Digital Performer, the Play light will blink.. waiting for MTC from the AW4416

From there, press play on the AW4416. Both systems should play
