Q:
How do I set up FreeMIDI in Finale, Allegro or PrintMusic?
A:
Coda notation products have supported FreeMIDI since version 2000. Here are the steps to configure your Code software with FreeMIDI
Be sure to configure and test FreeMIDI before attempting to setup Finale, Allegro, or PrintMusic. 1. Launch Finale (or Allegro, or PrintMusic!) 2. Go to the MIDI menu and choose "MIDI Setup...." 3. In the MIDI Setup dialog box choose FreeMIDI for the MIDI System. 4. The Output Device should be your keyboard or sound module. The Input Device should be your keyboard or controller. 5. If you don't see them listed, click on the drop down menu and select the appropriate item. Only one item should be selected for each Device. (To de-select an item, click on the drop down menu and choose the item again.) NOTE: The most common mistake is to select the interface rather than the device Remember that the interface can’t do anything musical by itself.
