Q:
Will there be a new BRC for the "Type II" Adats?
A:
There are no plans for a "new" BRC to function with the ADAT-XT, XT20 and LX20. The BRC, as well as the original ADAT, are compatible with the ADAT-XT. Some of the newer features on these machines will not be available on the BRC but can still be accessed via the front panel of the machine when being used with a BRC. Some of these features include 20 bit/16 bit Format select, Dynamic Record Enable, and Dither/Truncate Digital Output Select. When connected to the BRC, the 48k/44.1k Clock Select is not available since the BRC is a nominal 48k device. The M20 has its own built-in synchronizer and uses a different remote control, the CADI.

I can punch-in individual tracks from the front panel of my XT, XT20 or LX20 when the unit is already in record, but not from the BRC. Why? I recorded a tape on a XT, XT20 or LX20 at 44.1K.
