My Quicksilver G4 freezes when quitting applications. I have to restart with all SCSI devices off in order to get the G4 to start up properly.

Try flashing the ATTO Dual Channel UW SCSI card (aka, Digidesign's SCSI64Kit) with a newer firmware version. The cards ship with firmware version 1.44 for broader compatibility. It is found that newer computers work fine (and often better) with a newer firmware version.
