Is running a line-level signal into my XLR inputs of my Aardvark Directpro Q10 or 2496 really going to damage the preamps?

No. This warning was meant as a precaution not to hook up a non-microphone to the XLR inputs because of the danger of accidentally sending phantom power into the unit and severly damaging that unit.
