Q:
How do I update my hardware device's OS with MIDI and Windows Media Player with Windows XP?
A:
1. Make sure the MIDI files for the hardware device's OS upgrade are unzipped. Make a directory on your computer (either desktop or in your C drive, for example C:\MIDI) by right-clicking, go to New, and choose Folder, then rename it.
2. Double-click your .zip file and it will open up. Highlight all the files with CTRL-A, and drag them to the new folder. 3. Make sure there is a cable plugged into the MIDI interface's output port to the hardware device's in port. 4. Go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Sounds & Audio Devices - Audio. 5. Change the preferred MIDI playback device to the MIDI port that corresponds to the port you chose in step #4. Click OK to get out of the control panel. 6. Launch Media Player by going to Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Windows Media Player. 7. Go to My Computer - C drive and find the folder you unzipped the MIDI files to and open it. Highlight all files with CTRL-A and drag and drop the first file (all other files will come with it) into the playlist of Media Player. 8. Prepare your hardware device to receive midi, and click Play on Media Player.
