Q:
Do I need to install any software in order to use a PCI expansion system?
A:
In Desktop computers the answer is no. The primary operations of the chassis are carried out by the BIOS (PC's)/OBP (Sun Open Boot Prom) /firmware (MAC Firmware). Apple PowerBooks also have the needed software as part of the Operating System. In PC Laptops, under Windows 98_Second Edition and Window Millenium the needed software is built into the Operating System also. Laptops running under Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 need drivers. The Windows 2000 driver is currently under development. The Windows NT 4.0 driver is available in the downloads section of this site.
