Q:
Assigning a Preset Controller Code to a MIDI Control on a KX88
A:
By assigning a Preset Controller Code, the user can customize the available MIDI Controls (i.e. Wheels, Switches, Sliders, Foot Controls, etc.)
1) Press the [MODE] button to enter 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode. The top LED display should blink 'CA' and the 'Controller' LED should be lit. 2) Press one of the numbered buttons which corresponds to the desired MIDI Control. The text along the top of the 'Bank A Program Select' buttons indicates the MIDI Control to which the Control Code will be assigned. 3) Use the 'Bank B Program Select' buttons to enter a Controller Code. (See table below). This operation uses the small numbers located above the 'Bank B Program Select' buttons. Once two numbers have been entered, the LED returns to 'Control Assign' (CA) mode. NOTE: In some cases, when a MIDI Control requires two Controller values (i.e. Toggle Switch TS1 or TS2), the first value appears in the top LED and the second in the bottom LED. After the first value is set, the second value is automatically selected for editing. 4) Press the [MODE] button again to exit the 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode. EXAMPLE: Assigning Volume to 'Continuous Slider 1' (CS1) located to the top left of the KX88. 1) Press the [MODE] button to enter the 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode. The top LED should blink 'CA' and the 'Controller' LED should be lit. 2) Press the [5] button (CS1) in 'Bank A Program Select' (the top Bank of assign buttons) to select Continuous Slider 1. The bottom LED display should be blinking and selected for editing. 3) Press the [2] button (value = 1) and the [8] button (value = 7) to enter '17' Volume (see table below for a list of Codes). NOTE: This operation uses the small numbers located above the 'Bank B Program Select' buttons. 4) Press the [MODE] button again to exit the 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode. EXAMPLE: Assigning 'Soft On' and 'Soft Off' to 'Toggle Switch 1' (TS1) located to the top left of the KX88. 1) Press the [MODE] button to enter the 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode. The top LED display should blink 'CA' and the 'Controller' LED should be lit. 2) Press the [TS1] button (Toggle Switch 1) to the left of the display. The first value LED should be blinking and selected for editing. NOTE: Assigning a Preset Controller code to the Toggle Switches (TS), requires entering a value in both the top and bottom LED displays. 3) Press the [3] button (value = 2) and the [5] button (value = 4) to enter '24' Soft On (see table below for a list of Codes) into the top LED display. The selected LED display (the one blinking) will switch to the bottow LED display. 4) Press the [3] button (value = 2) and the [6] button (value = 5) on the to enter '25' Soft Off (see table below for a list of Codes) into the bottom LED display. NOTE: This operation uses the small numbers located above the 'Bank B Program Select' buttons for BOTH the top and bottom LED display entries. 5) Press the [MODE] button again to exit the 'Controller Assign' (CA) mode.
