Q:
Cutting a long song into individual songs
A:
1) When you record all 6 tracks for an hour, each track is saved as a separate (and very long) audio file.
2) If any piece of that audio file is in use, DELETE UNUSED will not delete the file. It doesn't trim off the unused pieces. 3) When copying audio the original files are still in use, the 788 can not delete unused of the original huge audio file. Thus, no space is freed up. Here's how to create new shortened audio files by bouncing portions of a longer song. Overview Copy song to another partition Create new shorter audio file by bouncing Name newly bounced tracks Shuffle new bounced tracks to virtual tracks Clean out original long tracks Free up space by deleting unused Save new individual song Copy original long song again Bounce another portion of the long song Do as above to create another new shortened song Procedure for each new INDIVIDUAL SONG Copy the original song to another partition Press MENU Select SONG Press ENTER Select COPY Press ENTER Select (original long song) Press ENTER Select another partition Press ENTER Create a new shorter audio file by bouncing (This procedure is for bouncing tracks 1&2 to 7/8 use the same procedure for 3&4 and 5&6 if needed) Press and hold the TRACK button and simultaneously press SELECT for channel 1 Press and hold the TRACK button and simultaneously press SELECT for channel 2 Press and hold the STEREO button and simultaneously press SELECT for channel 7/8 Press the REC READY button for channel 7/8 Press the FADER/PAN button Press SELECT for channel 1 Adjust PAN for channel 1 to L63 Adjust PAN for channel 2 to R63 Press and hold the RECORD button and simultaneously press the PLAY button Name newly bounced tracks Press the TRACK button Press SELECT for channel 7 Press and hold SHIFT and simultaneously press TITLE Rename track Press ENTER Move cursor to right does the same for channel 8 Shuffle new bounced tracks to virtual tracks Press the TRACK button Press SELECT for channel 7 Select TRACK 9 Move cursor to the right to select channel 8 Select TRACK 10 Clean out original long tracks Press TRACK EDIT Select CLEAN OUT Press ENTER Adjust SRC TRK to 1 / 2 Press ENTER Free up drive space by deleting unused Press MENU Select SONG Press ENTERS select DELETE UNUSED Press YES Save new individual song Press MENU Select SONG Select SAVE
