Q:
How do I setup a SMIDI transfer on my ASRX?
A:
1. Turn off all ASR-X and SCSI Devices on the chain
2. Boot up computer 3. Turn on ASR-X. 4. Set "SCSI Termination" to "off" ( Press System/MIDI, go to "Set System Pref’s", press Enter, turn the Parameter knob till the screen displays "SCSI Termination = "). 5.(In Windows) Press Start, Go to Control Panel-Double click System. 6. Select " SCSI Controller", click "REFRESH". 7. You'll get a screen that asks if you want to install the driver for the unknown device, click cancel. The system "refreshes"; now look at the Other Devices category in the device manager - you'll see ENSONIQ ASR-X SAMPLER. Now the computer can see the ASR-X, and you can set up Sound Forge or whatever SMIDI compatible program to interface with your ASR-X! This is the setup in Sound Forge that worked on my computer. This setup area is found in the Tools/Sampler/Configure area of Sound Forge.
