Q:
TDM bus termination guidelines (Disk I/O, Bridge I/O, 442, DSP Farm, SampleCell II, NuVerb).
A:
The TDM Bus can be terminated by placing a TDM Terminator on the last node of the TDM cable. This is not typically required in smaller systems, 5 or less cards. It is more of an issue in larger systems, 6 or more cards, which would require a 12-node TDM ribbon cable. One symptom of improper TDM termination would be crackling audio in record monitoring or playback, not written to disk. The NuVerb/TDM card does not include any termination, so there should always be 1 node left after the NuVerb/TDM, with a TDM Terminator attached to that last node.TDM Termination is not required for PCI systems.
