Q:
Can files on a Disk I/O Drive be shared over Ethernet?
A:
While Pro Tools cannot read/write via Ethernet, you can enable File Sharing on a Disk I/O Drive to allow networked users to copy files to/from the drive. To do this:1) Open the "File Sharing" control panel.2) If File Sharing is Off, click the "Start" button.3) Close the File Sharing control panel.4) Open the "Users & Groups" control panel.5) Select "New User" in the File menu.6) Name the User.7) Double-click the new user's icon and assign a password.8) Close the user's info window, then close Users & Groups.9) Click once on the Disk I/O Drive (in the Finder).10) Select Sharing from the File menu.11) Enable the appropriate read/write options for a User/Group, or for Everyone. The Disk I/O Drive should now be available as a "file Server" in the Chooser, so you can mount the drive on a networked computer to copy files between it and your local hard drive.
