Q:
Varispeed and SMPTE Slave Driver configuration for Pro Tools 4.x.
A:
1) Choose the OMS studio setup option from the Setup menu in Pro Tools.2) In OMS, under the Studio menu choose "midi cards and interfaces..." and have OMS search for the SSD. It should appear in OMS as a standard midi interface.3) Create a device (studio menu, new device) that is attached to the standard midi interface (SSD). Name the device SSD and uncheck everything in the window except Sends and Receives Midi Time Code.OK this window, Save the studio setup and go back to Pro Tools.4) In the peripherals window (under the Setup menu) select SMPTE Slave Driver as the Sync Peripheral. The port should be set to SSD and "Sends SSD Configs To" should be set to SSD also. Click OK.5) Go to the Session Setup window (under the display menu).Check the VSO box at the bottom of the window. Varispeed should work at this point.SMPTE Slave Driver Setup options in the Session Setup Window will be grayed out and are not necessary to use Varispeed. They are necessary if Pro Tools is outputting timecode. In this case, click the "Using SSD" option in the Session Setup Window, the clock options should then be available.
