Q:
Sending MMC from Pro Tools to a BRC.[configuration]

A:
Configure OMS - FreeMIDI.1. Make sure that OMS or FreeMIDI has been recognized by your midi box (MTP, Studio 4 etc.) .2. Make sure you have a device called the BRC. OMS and FreeMIDI both have a preset for the BRC. FreeMIDI users must use version 1.34 or higher. IN the FreeMIDI preference window they must select emulate OMS - FreeMIDI applications only as well the usual settings.3. In OMS or FreeMIDI make sure that the BRC is set to "RECEIVE MMC" and sends and receives MTC. You can leave on all the channels if you want, the user can configure those later.4. * If the customer has a MTP or MTP A/V make sure they have MTC as the LTC source in their MTP control panel. This software comes with their interface and is also downloadable from the motu web site.5. * It is very important to make sure they have both a midi out and a midi in going from the BRC to their midi interface. Pro Tools is going to send a MMC message that will tell the BRC what start time to go to but Pro Tools is going to be waiting for the timecode to come back from the BRC when the ADATs go into play.Configure the BRC:They need to make sure the the correct start time is selected, select the GEN SYNC button then the edit button - press the GEN SYNC button until you see MIDI and select MTC. Make sure a tape is in the ADAT.Configure Pro Tools:1. Go to the peripherals window and select generic timecode reader and choose the port that the midi interface is connected to.2. Now go to the Machine Control page and select Midi Machine Control and for the port setting you should select BRC and ID 127.3. OK the peripherals menu and go to the Session Setup Window. Select MTC to Port and choose BRC for the port setting. Make sure they have a session start time selected.4. *Pro Tools must be online to send the MMC command. Put pro tools online and press the return key then the spacebar and the ADAT(s) "should" start to locate to the beginning of the session.Troubleshooting:If when you press play the ADATs locate but pro tools won't start you should make sure that pro tools is getting timecode by pressing play on the BRC and checking the session setup window in pro tools. Make sure current TC is seeing timecode. If it's not check OMS, FreeMIDI settings. If the ADATs don't locate when you press play make sure that step 2 of the configure pro tools sections is correct.
