Q:
AudioVision pauses or hesitates for a long time (several seconds) when going back and forth from AudioVision and the Finder.serial port
A:
When you go from the Finder (or another open application) to AudioVision, AudioVision verifies the devices connected to the serial ports. That's assuming there are devices configured in the serial ports window in AudioVision. The Console Variable "ReleasePortOnSuspend" now defaults to false in AudioVision 4.1 (or later?). This allows AudioVision to maintain control of the Macintosh serial ports when you switch to the Finder. This can be changed by typingset ReleasePortsOnSuspend truein the AudioVision console window.
